DECLAW or not DECLAW, That is the question.

I'm at a cross roads with one of my cats. Her name is Sophie and she might weigh 8lbs soaking wet. She's a very loving cat but she is wreaking havoc on my furniture.
I have tried just about everything so far and nothing seems to work on her.
We have purchased several different scratching posts, card board scratching stands, sprays, tapes, tinfoil, squirt guns, squirt bottles, clapping my hands together, yelling, praying, etc...
It doesn't matter what is next to her. If she gets the urge to scratch and claw, god help the object that is next to her.

So as you see, I'm at my wits end with Mrs. Ninja Kitty and she is one step away from getting declawed. I REALLY do not want to do this as I agree with masses that it will hurt her and change her attitude. So, I am going to try some form of nail caps and see how that goes. I will keep you posted and let you know how this turns out. If any readers have used this technique before please let me know how it worked for you.

What happens to my pet when I'm gone.

Have you ever given any thought to what would happen to your pet when you die?
Have you put anything in place to care for your pet(s)?
This is a really important issue to think about. If you ceased to exist as of tomorrow, who would take care of your furry companion?
I for one would not want any of my four pets going to some shelter where they may stay until it's time for them to depart this world.

I have a 10yr old rottweiler, who is blind, has failing hips, and runs me almost $150.00 per month to keep him healthy. Who would take care of all this when I or my wife is gone. Who would take care of a geriatric rottweiler?

When making your Will and Estate Planning decisions, don't forget to make provisions for your pet(s). Make sure that they end up with a loving person who will continue to love them and care for them as you would.

If you are in Florida, North Carolina, New York, or New Jersey feel free to drop my wife a line who is an Estate Planning attorney. This isn't posted to drum up business for her as it is to educate everyone. Please feel free to talk to anyone you want. Just make sure you make provisions for your pet. We both felt it important to make this post because she has such a passion for animals.

I'm back!!!

Well it's been quite a while since the last post but I guess that's life. It tends to get in the way every now and then. Yesterday Enzo went to the vet to get his nails trimmed and dremeled. He 100% hates this and I feel really bad for pinning him down while the vet tech does her thing.

But when all is said and done he gets lots of pets and cookies. One thing I did forget, when Enzo and I were walking into the vets office we both heard a cry coming from a red Jeep Cherokee. I looked inside and saw a toddler and a child. The toddlers hair was pasted to his head and wasn't very happy. The windows were barely cracked!!! Make a long story short, a big tattooed biker was calling the PBSO and reporting this. The owner of the car ended up coming out of a dry cleaner with about 20 shirts and when confronted by us, told us to F-OFF! The biker guy jumped over some hedges to pound this guy and the guy jumped in his jeep and tore off.
I wish Enzo wasn't an old man because in his day all I would have to say was "Get Em" and the guy would have a nice LOVE BITE from Mr. Enzo Rottweiler. It' hard to believe in this day and age that STUPID people still breed.

USS Golden (Max) of GoldenRottie makes his maiden voyage

Holy Crap!
Max can swim!!!!!!! Poor dog was bred to be in the water and for the past 6 years, the best I could do was give him a kiddy pool or let him run down to the creek when we lived in NC.
I had to pull him in and then hold him while he was in the water. It's funny because he has full trust in me and will let me do anything to him. He looked like a dead frog floating around and didn't swim the first few times. Now... You can't keep him out of the pool.
This means more cleaning for me but I wouldn't have it any other way. My pup is happy!
There will be pics to follow.

It's not the dog....It's the owner.

When ever some one makes a derogatory statement about an aggressive breed such as Pit Bulls, Rotweillers, Chows, Akitas, etc... The other side states that it wasn't the dog but the owner.
While this has some truth to it, we must remember that each breed has its own character.

These characteristics have been breed in to the dog for different reasons. This is why some dogs are more animal aggressive than others or some dogs are more of a one person owner. These characteristics are innate and it’s up to the owner to keep them in check.

Characteristics are what make a Golden Retriever everyone’s buddy both animal and human. They are also what make the Rottweiler such a great guardian and protector. We need to concentrate on spay and neutering practices, education, and leave the breeding to the professionals.
